January 2 - City Hall

I was driving in my car when I took this shot of City Hall.

City Hall was built in 1976 by Joseph Pettick. The upper lights of City Hall are supposed to create the effect of a crown, in honour of Regina's royal connections.

You can see the message "Seasons Greetings" across the windows in the front of the building.

A year in photos

This year is the year I decided to blog. But what should I blog about? What would be interesting to enough people that they would want to follow it?

I've always enjoyed visiting museums and looking at the work of photographers who captured the daily lives of those around them. I love the work of Everett Baker, the Saskatchewan photographer who took over 15,000 images of people and locations around this province at the beginning of the 20th century.

I know I will never take that many photos in my life. But I think I can take 365 photos of Regina - one picture a day for the next year. I hope they give you a glimpse of why I decided to stay in the Queen City instead of remaining in Calgary where all my family lives.

So tonight I headed out in my car and took this photo of the Legislative Building, decorated for the holidays. It's a bit shaky, but what can you expect when the -40 C windchill is freezing both your camera and your hands!
