March 12-Jacqueline Berting glass sculpture

This panel is from an installation of 200 similar glass panels located in the food court of the Dr. William Riddell Centre at the University of Regina.

Every time I have to study for a mid-term or final exam, I make sure I sit beside this glass panel of a bird on a tree branch and a dragonfly in the lower right-hand corner. It is breathtakingly beautiful. There are no other words to describe it.

Jacqueline Berting was born in St. Gregory, Saskatchewan and now lives in Cupar. She is famous for her custom installations (like this one), her paperweights (I own one), and her glass wheat stalks and wheatfields (which I hope to own one day). You can view and purchase her work by visiting the Berting Glass website.

March 11-SaskTel Murals

There are a series of five relief murals along the SaskTel Building on Lorne Street. This mural is the last of the series; it shows how communications (especially the telephone) has played a major part in the modern era ... in times of war, in flight and navigation, on the seas, and to reach out to loved ones around the world.

March 10-Co-op Refinery

I had to buy a new camera. This is the first photos that I have taken with it: a night shot of the Co-op Refinery at the north edge of the city.

This is only a small section of the refinery. The east side (not shown) has a flare stack which was billowing flames out into the dark night. However with the cold, the condensation surrounding the stack obscured it.

For more information about the refinery, visit the Co-op Refinery web page. (Scroll down the page a bit to learn about the refinery.)

Lost my camera

Hi guys,
If you've been wondering why I haven't posted, it's because I've lost my camera. I've torn my house apart but can't find it. It may be at work; if so, you will see last week's posts on Monday morning. If not, I won't be able to post until Tuesday (once I purchase a new camera and start taking pictures again.)
